15 Women’s groups tooled in making candle wax

About 450 women under different cooperative groups were being skilled in candle making and other economic activities in order to activate their self-reliance for sustainable development. The fifteen (15) communal groups attained the knowledge through our routine village outreaches.
Among the groups include the following; – Kuguminkiriza Women’s group, Mukisa Women group, Kisa Kyamukama Women’s group, Ntinkalu saving group, Budagaali Women’s group, Kange Women’s group,Tusubira group, St. Kizito, etc. All the groups are found in areas of Budondo Sub County, and Kakira town council in Jinja district.
Each group comprises of thirty members. After the skilling, a group can provide the starting capital “Entandiikwa” to a member. The small scale enterprises have generated daily income for the local people in villages.
“The organization (Wipe Uganda) is gradually changing our standards of living”, A section of group members testified.
“I no longer beg for everything from my husband, the candle business brings me daily cash”, a Group member narrates.
Wipe Uganda has ceaselessly offered free financial literacy, saving, and hard skill trainings to members of the public in a bid to eradicate poverty. Relatedly, we sensitize about Human Rights and family issues, aiming at drawing possible measures to mitigate Domestic and Gender Based Violence (GBV).
